Start Time
Each event will be started in waves with the first wave starting at 6.15pm.
Registration
5.00 - 6.00pm at the race venue.
Briefing
A course briefing will be held 10 minutes before the start of each event.
Prizes
At the conclusion of each race a prize giving and spot prize draw will be held at the race venue. To claim a prize you must be present at the prize giving.
Training Program
A weekly swimrun training program is available for entrants in the Stroke & Stride Series through the summer. This program is structured to improve your fitness level through the Series and maximise your enjoyment of the sport. The program is sent to your email address. Please include your email address on the Entry Form and tick the box to receive the program or send an email to training@stride.co.nz or click on the enteronline link below to visit the Stroke & Stride shop where the Training Program is listed in the Merchandise section.
Wetsuits
2XU wetsuits from the 2XU Performance Centre, Newmarket are available to hire or purchase on raceday at the race venue

Age Groups
An Age Group Grand Prix decides the Stroke & Stride Series Champions for each 5 year Age Group. Your Age Group is decided on your age as at 16 March 2011. Age Groups for the Series are:
13 - 16 years
17 - 19 years
20 - 24 years
25 - 29 years
30 - 34 years
35 - 39 years
40 - 44 years
45 - 49 years
50 - 54 years
55 - 59 years
60 - 64 years
65 - 69 years
70 - 74 years

Photos
Send your photos taken at the Stroke & Stride events to photo@stride.co.nz and we'll publish them in the Photo Gallery. Be sure to send any additional information you have as well. We'll present prizes to the photographers sending the best photos following each event
The photos featured in the gallery are low resolution however there are often high resolution copies of these images available to purchase, please contact Stroke & Stride for further information
Clothing and Merchandise
2XU short sleeve run tops are available for $70, Stroke & Stride Series cotton T Shirts are $30. For sizes and to view click on the enteronline link below to visit the Stroke & Stride shop. Please order online or by mail using the Series Entry Form and remember to mark your size where applicable. Quantities are limited.
2XU Run Top sizing
This year the shirts are a unisex style with short sleeves and come in 7 different sizes, the sizes are:
XXS - chest measurement 28-30 inch
XS - chest measurement 31-33 inch
S - chest measurement 34-37 inch
M - chest measurement 38-40 inch
L - chest measurement 41-43 inch
XL - chest measurement 44-47 inch
XXL - chest measurement 49-50 inch
Championship Event
Race #8 on March 16 will double as the 2011 New Zealand Swimrun Championships. This prestigious event has been contested annually since 1993 with a who's who of national and international sportspeople taking the title

Coaching

At the start of this season we host a coaching clinic in preparation for the season
Coaches training session: Wednesday, 20th October, 2010
Held at Okahu Bay from 6.00 – 7.00pm and will entail practical swim and run training plus sound advice on how, what and when to train for and race this season’s Stroke & Stride Series
Top swimrun coaches will be on hand to guide you and answer questions
The cost is $10 for Stroke & Stride entrants or $20 for others and includes a swim cap

Race and Safety Information
Safety Information
While the Event Organisers have taken every reasonable measure to ensure your safety, as a participant in a Stroke & Stride event you are responsible for your own safety and enter this event at your own risk.
It is important that you read the following Safety message in conjunction with your Waiver and Declaration and adhere to each of the safety guidelines of the event:
- All entrants should undertake sufficient swim and run training before the event as might be expected of a prudent person entering a similar competition.
- All entrants should be in excellent health, based on recent training, physical examinations, if any, and generally accepted standards of good health.
- Consideration should be shown to all swimmers, runners and others while competing.
- The swim course is in the open harbour with water depths in excess of 2 metres at times. All entrants require a level of swimming proficiency.
- The run course that you will run along is an open public footpath. This footpath is beside a public road that is not closed to vehicular traffic. Please treat all roads as OPEN to all traffic at all times.
- At all times runners must stay on the footpath unless directed by a race marshal.
- Please be aware of vehicles exiting from driveways, business addresses and side streets along the course.
- If you have a medical condition that may require attention please first get clearance from your doctor and advise the organisers in writing prior to race day.
Parking
Parking is available in car parks and local streets around the venues. There is NO parking on reserves or grassed areas
Transition
All competitors must use the designated transition area to change between the swim and run. Do not deliberately impede or obstruct another competitor or interfere with another competitor’s equipment or clothing. No valuables are to be left in the transition. No supporters may enter the transition area. Do not enter the transition after you have finished the race until the last competitor has started the run.
Swim Caps
At registration before your first event you will receive a colour coded swim cap. This swim cap cannot be altered and must worn outermost at all times you are in the water
Race Numbers
A race number will be allocated to you at registration for ease of identification. The number must be visible and legible at all times.
Safety Briefing
All entrants must be present and listen to the safety briefing and event instructions given on the beach 10 minutes before the race start.
Start
The start is on the beach unless otherwise directed. The start will be in two waves. All entrants must exit the water before the start of the first wave. Seed yourself according to your swimming ability at the start.
Finish
The finish is on the beach. Do not impede the progress of competitors that are still racing after you have finished.
Timing
Your time and race number will be recorded when you cross the finish line. Stay in your finish order after crossing the line and ensure your race number is recorded correctly at this time.
Medical
- The Order of St John will be stationed at the venue and will provide first aid if required.
- If you have a medical condition that could cause you difficulties during or after the race, please first get clearance from your doctor to participate in the event and also notify the organisers in writing prior to the race.
- For your safety, it is advised that you do not participate in the event if you have had any sickness or symptoms in the past week, as these can contribute towards dangerous illness.
